Castle Camps is located in the very SE corner of Cambridgeshire, approximately 15 miles from the city of Cambridge but less than 1 mile from the intersection of the county with both Suffolk and Essex. The closest towns are Haverhill (Suffolk) and Saffron Walden (Essex). The 2021 census recorded a population of 645 within the parish of Castle Camps.
The village bowls club was formed in 1937 and the current compact bowling green is located behind houses on the High Street in the centre of the village, in a quiet, but not always easy to find, setting.
The club currently has 40 active members made up of players from both the local community and surrounding villages, including Haverhill. We compete in: the Cambridge and District Bowls League; the Steeple Bumpstead Bowls League; the Arthur Spackman Pairs League (2 teams - Hurricanes and Mosquitoes) and the North Essex County Bowls Federation (NECBF).and we organise a number of Friendly matches throughout the season.
More details about the leagues, our current results and league positions are available via the links or by clicking on the Leagues and Friendlies tabs at the top of this page.
